Camping is at the heart of the Troop 318 program. The troop camps nine months out of the year, taking a break only during December, February, and August. Most monthly campouts are held at parks and campgrounds within about an hour of Orland Park, making it easy for Scouts to enjoy the outdoors while developing camping, cooking, hiking, and leadership skills. Each summer, Troop 318 attends a week-long resident camp at Ransburg Scout Reservation near Bloomington, Indiana, during the week of the Fourth of July, where Scouts can earn merit badges, participate in exciting activities, and build lasting friendships. Troop 318 provides tents for Scout use, so new members can begin enjoying the outdoor program without needing to purchase their own tent.
